A study of the neighborhood of Corlears Hook, with a history of its settlement in Dutch New York, and an analysis of its population. With the results of surveys of the residents conducted first in 1934 and again in 1939, when their apartments were to be demolished for the construction of the Vladeck Houses, modern public housing. An early warning against gentrification, with the survey showing that very few, if any, current residents could survive the higher rents of renovated existing buildings.
