Mujica's massive monograph on the development of the skyscraper. Mujica was a proponent of his own Neo-American style of skyscraper design, suggesting, according to John Sloan's Foreword, the "application of the work of primitive peoples on the American continent" to the skyscraper, a purely American product."He seeks to re-create an architectural style truly American in spirit and distinguishable from those native to other lands." But more importantly a collection of images and details of contemporary American skyscrapers, with plans and large photogravures. The text includes Mujica's history of the American skyscraper, with a section of technical and statistical data for each illustrated building. First edition. 45 cm; 72 pp; 134 plates illustrated from plans, drawings, and photogravures. Marginal tear to text leaf 25/26. Ex-library; disbound with original covers repurposed as a portfolio with ties; text and plates loose. Two library stamps to t.p. and one text leaf; plates unmarked but some with minor edgewear. A good set in gilt-stamped boards/portfolio.
