A facsimile of Blaeu's Atlas volume on China, originally published in 1655, this edition published in Germany by a Volkswagen foundation. All text, contemporary and in facsimile, in German. With color title page and 17 maps in color. 49 x 35 cm; pp. ii, 1-27; 176-177 [Iaponia]; illustrated from sixteen maps of China and one of Japan. with maps measuring 47.5 x 38.5 cm [image] on folded 49.5 x 68 cm. sheet. Blaeu's maps were engraved from the Jesuit Martinius Martini's manuscript maps, perhaps already out of date, but with many improvements. With 28 pp. booklet giving the history of this volume of the Atlas and particulars of this copy. All pages loose as issued, in gilt cloth-backed portfolio.
