Rio de Janeiro, 2014. A collection of interior and exterior photographs of the deserted Hotel Nacional, the hotel that would not die, designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1972 and opened in 1974; closed in 1995. Abandoned and pillaged in subsequent years, desolation peaking about the time these photographs were made. But renovated and re-opened in the Summer Olympics economic frenzy of 2016, only to close again in 2018. First edition. 28.5 cm; unpaged [approx. 300]. A fine copy in wrappers. Item #012816
