Frankl, a Viennese immigrant, designed furniture and interiors in the modern style. In this book, originally published in 1928, he defines "modern" and provides examples of contemporary decorative arts and architecture. Quite a bit of his own work is shown, as well as work by Frank Lloyd Wright, J. J. P. Oud, Mendelsohn, Paul Rodier, Henry Varnum Poor, A. M.
