New York: Office of City Surveyor, 1868, First edition thus. Elephant folio (40 x 60 cm); Title page and 26 double-page maps. Water stained throughout; maps completely legible; binding sound. A fair copy only, rebound in quarter gilt leather with green cloth boards. "Drawn from the Original on file in the Street Commissioner's Office in the City of New York, together with lines of Streets and Avenues, laid out by John Randel, jr., 1819-1820." An 1868 publication of Sackersdorff's redrawing of Randel's important maps of Manhattan as surveyed ifrom 1815-1820, with the grid overlaid. Maps show property lines, major structures, existing roads, shorelines, wetlands, and the grid extended beyond 155th street. Each double-page canvas-mounted map measures 80 x 60 and is colored. Maps and canvas are quite stained but completely legible and with no losses; A copy as ugly as sin but scarce as virtue; four copies found in OCLC (two 1868, two 1887); none found in recent auction records.
