Item #012810 The Wedge Vol. V, No. 3. O. E. S. ALLADIN HOMES.

The Wedge Vol. V, No. 3

Bay City: Aladdin Readi-Cut Houses, 1915. Issue of The Wedge, a promotional publication from Aladdin espousing home ownership, specifically the ownership of an Aladdin Readi-Cut house. With ads for Aladdin furniture, appliances, and accessories, as well as some houses; fake classified ads, editorials, exhortations to "join the family", and a two-page spread illustrating the domestic bliss to be found in the impossibly huge parlor of an Aladdin house, "whose attainment is worthy [of] the greatest sacrifice." A blending of sentiment, economy, and consumption in the promotion of an essentially unworthy product; a prime example of early 20th century American hucksterism. Vol.V, No. 3. 24 cm; 16 pp.; illustrated. a very good copy in wrappers. Item #012810
