The Struggle for Housing / The Mediatory City / Utopia: Fotoromanzi.
Turin: Strum Group, 1972. Item #011998
[Three volumes] Strum Group was an ad hoc group formed specifically to provide edgy but safe contemporary "radical" material for Ambasz’s 1972 "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" exhibition at MOMA (Ambasz catalog pp. 252-9). As explained by founder Pietro de Rossi in "Clip Stamp Fold", he and three colleagues used the popular medium of the "photo-novel" to discuss recent socio-political developments in Turin. Each fotoromanzo deals with a specific issue: Utopia, analyzing work by contemporary visionaries; The Struggle for Housing concerning the fate of Turin’s large immigrant population, and The Mediatory City showing a pragmatic synthesis of the status quo and radical solutions. These three publications were its entire output. First edition. Three issues. 4to; 12 pp. each; illustrated from photographs and drawings. A very good set or better in original wrappers. Text in English.
